Book Club: Current Reads
I ordered a few books through ThriftBooks, and while waiting for them to be delivered, I decided to reread Cheryl Peck's Fat Girls and Lawn Chairs.
I remember being so amused by her short musings on her life and family during my first read-through. It's a quick and easy read; candy for the brain, as a friend calls such things. The majority of it is light-hearted.
It is different rereading a book after 20 years of living. I don't see the book any differently. I still enjoyed it. However, her life doesn't seem as dramatically different from my own as I once saw it. Perhaps the older we get, the more we see our similarities to others rather than our differences.
Next in the line-up: Jenny Lawson's Broken (in the best possible way) or Kate Mosse's Warrior Queens & Quiet Revolutionaries - How Women (Also) Built the World.
What are you all reading? (She asks the tens of people who stumble into the forum.)
I just today finished 'Broken (in the best possible way)'! It has the same format and vibe as 'Furiously Happy' and definitely had me laughing until I cried, too! I'm glad you're enjoying 'Furiously Happy'! It's one of my favorite books 🥰
